July is here! It’s always great weather in San Diego, but make your month even better by attending one of these events!

July 8th –Local MasterChef winner Claudia Sandoval (Chef Claudia’s Cocina) is heading to Bazaar Del Mundo to meet and greet with fans, and sign her first cookbook, Claudia’s Cocina: A Taste of Mexico. Working with Chef Jose Duran next door at Casa Guadalajara, Claudia and the Shops will treat guests to tastings of her favorite recipes from the new book as they enjoy the sights and sounds of our colorful courtyard This event is free and open to the public. July 9th – Sweet Petite Confections “Life’s a Beach” Chocolate Class: On Saturday, July 9 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., artisan chocolate shop Sweet Petite Confections in Bay Park will celebrate the second installment in its trio of summertime chocolate-making classes.  July’s class will focus on flavors reminiscent of hot summer days and the salty ocean. Participants will make bonbons and chocolate barks using ingredients like house-made lemon-mint ganache and candied lemon peel (as homage to summer lemonade), Hawaiian sea salt, salted caramels and more. Classes are priced at $35 per adult or parent-child team, and guests leave with 1.5 pounds of their own colorful creations. July 15th-17th – San Diego’s Pride Festival – Looking for events during San Diego’s Pride Festival? The organizers created the top 25 (+1) things to do during San Diego Pride! July 17thSupport Road Runner Sports & Green Flash Brewery for their inaugural Craft Classic. The event will consist of a Half Marathon and 5K finishing at the Green Flash Brewery in Mira Mesa followed by a rockin’ after party with free beer, live music and fun festivities. July 17thDel Mar BBQ State Championship –  More than 40 of the nation’s top professional BBQ Pitmasters, local restaurants and Chefs will be competing in this State Championship for more than $15,000 in cash prizes while also selling BBQ samples to the public. Purchase four 2 oz. competition-ready samples of brisket, pork, pork ribs, chicken and/or steak for $10, which includes a Peoples’ Choice ballot to vote for your favorite contestant. Admission to the event is included with track admission of $6. Held in the Seaside Concert area west of the Grandstand where you can enjoy craft beer paired with barbecue samples while listening to live music!

July 19th – The SoCal Food and Wine Festival will be held at Ramona Mainstage located at 626 Main Street, Ramona, CA  92065. A variety of cuisine and wine pairings from ten top chefs and ten premium wineries in the Southern California area will be offered to guests in attendance. The indoor venue will also include live entertainment. The event will benefit Center for Community Solutions – whose mission is to end relationship and sexual violence by being a catalyst for caring communities and social justice.Tickets can be purchased HERE for $89 per guest.

July 19th – Chicks for Beer is an event that brings women together in a warm and friendly environment to discover, learn about and enjoy craft beer all while eating an expertly paired5-course meal. The event will feature a brewery and it’s brewmaster to discuss each of the 5 different beers, as well as pairing each beer with a special dish from the head Chef RoseAna Peyron.  All proceeds go to the San Diego chapter of the Susan G Komen foundation to help those with breast cancer and their families. July 24th – Royal Stone Goes “Down Under” for First Wine Dinner: New restaurant Royal Stone, will host its first ever prix fixe wine dinner on Sunday, July 24. The evening’s pairings will focus on vino from “Down Under,” in particular award-winning independent wines from South Australia and Tasmania. Executive Chef Chase Edrington will present six seasonal courses – from duck with mole to charred eggplant to house made carpaccio – paired with wines from Negociants USA. Priced at $85++ per person, guests may select their choice of seating time beginning between 5 and 7 p.m. by calling Royal Stone directly at 619.738.8550. July 25th – Eating and Drinking In San Diego, an online community of people who love food and drink and the people that serve them, is putting together this special night of BBQ. BBQ Smokers will be bringing their A-Game to this special night. Smokers are: Grand Ole BBQ y Asado – Turkey, Iron Pig Alehouse – Brisket, Coop’s West Texas BBQ – Sausage, The Smokehouse Kings – Pork, and Mark’s Bark – Ribs. This will be an all you can eat event.  All the meat and sides you can eat from 6pm-9pm.  It will also be a bottleshare (limited to one carry on bag, no huge coolers). Kouta at San Diego Ceramics Connection will be providing custom and handmade plates for everyone to take home. Coronado Spice and Tea will be providing a voucher for a free ice cream donut sandwich. Meanwhile, Thorn Street Brewery, around the corner, will have their beer and root beer available (for an additional cost). July 25th – Meet the Winemaker with La Lomita at Bracero – Join Fernando Perez and wine-making team for an amazing opportunity to taste Lomita wines in the US, accompanied by small plates from the Chef Javier Plascencia and the Bracero team. Tickets are $70
