The La Jolla Concours D’Elegance is more of a 3 day world-class event showcasing and paying tribute to Coachbuilt Classics of the 30’s and 40’s. Picture perfect panorama in La Jolla overlooking the pacific ocean… Rolls Royce at La Valencia, Aston Martin party in the park , plus phenomenal chefs combining visual pleasures with visceral delight … The term car show doesn’t begin to define the event… I only attended the Sunday portion of the concours and believe you me, I won’t make that mistake again next year, as I will be down for it all!
Sunday
It was a perfect San Diego beach weather day. As we arrived (my lady, son and I), you could already feel the energy…see the beautiful cars. There’s a feeling that overcomes you when you see these cars! It’s almost like you’re a kid again. You dont need to anything about cars, but you know exactly how much work went into each of these rides. TONS!!
The Cars
As we walked through the classics, we viewed vehicles up close and personal that one usually only sees in magazines – from the rarest of vehicles to American muscle cars, to Ferraris, Bugattis and classic Mercedes and Porsches.
Also in attendance was the first ever all electric vintage VW microbus. Time barely sufficed to admire them all.
The Food
After looping around once or twice, we made our way over to the VIP area to try some of the tastings prepared by outstanding local chefs and restaurants!!
Some of my faves SuperNatural was on hand with their Seared Scallop with nori dusted fennel shrimp chip.

Chef Mario Medina of Finch’s Wine Bar & Bistro was a favorite as people took 2 a piece!!
And Chef Mikel Anthony of Ronin was on hand with a very refreshing dish

If you didn’t make it this year, make it a point to get tickets early next time and feel like a kid again. Oh yeah, and don’t forget, the VIP tickets are so worth it!
